After seeing a couple of Facebook friends post a link to a New York magazine article called The Madness Of King Donald, my mind immediately jumped back to another ubiquitous Facebook re-post from 2013, this one called The Psychological Profile of Barack Obama. Each author, armed of course with expert opinions from mental health professionals, made their case for the unhealthy psychological state of each POTUS.
Hence the title of the blog post; The Internet Will Make All Your Dreams Come True.
In Biblical studies a lot of attention is paid to the terms exegesis and eisegesis, the former basically meaning you let the text speak for itself and the latter that you get an idea in your head and then search for the proof text.
The Internet is basically like that. No mater what our political leaning, we can find an article on the Internet, complete with “expert” testimony to back up most any position or view. Want to prove Noah’s Ark is historic and evidential…boom. Google search. How about making a case that it is absolute foolishness to believe in the existence of God? Bing it. You’ll have your “proof”.
Proverbs 18:17 says: The first to put forth his case seems right, until someone else steps forward and cross-examines him.
So even though we can probably find an article or two to support most any idea that enters our head, I think it wise to be quick to read and slow to re-post.
Except this blog article. Re-post this right away.
