Very soon some of us will be elated by the election results and others disappointed, perhaps even devastated. Those who do our best to follow Christ and His Word must never forget who we are in The Son of God. Consequently, our response, no matter the outcome, should be measured accordingly.
If your candidate wins, do not gloat. Don’t go posting things on social media that humiliate others.
Remember what Proverbs 24:17-18 says:
Do not gloat when your enemy falls;
when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice,
or the Lord will see and disapprove
and turn his wrath away from them. If your candidate should lose, don’t despair in hopelessness. First and foremost your eternity is secure. Also, nothing happens, especially with Government leadership, apart from at least God’s permissive, if not his perfect will.
Remember what Jesus said to Pontius Pilate as chronicled in John 19. “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.” In other words, “you only have this job because God allowed it. “
So whatever the outcome, let’s never forget who we are in Christ. We are secure in our eternal life, and we are commanded to love others.
